Review

Aliens is probably best science fiction movie of all time and certainly the most thrilling. It is currently number 83 on IMBD.com’s top 250 movies of all time. Aliens is the best selling 18 Certificate movie of all time.

Written and directed by James Cameron, this Sci-Fi classic stars Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in this sequel to Alien.  The action is non stop once Ripley and the team of highly trained space marines land on the colony planet.  The space marines are armed with the latest high tech weaponry and are hyper confident with their ability to deal with anything.

This film is very tense in particular when the marines first encounter the aliens, when the aliens attack the team while barricaded in the med labs and when Ripley goes into the heart of the alien nest to rescue Newt the only survivor of the colony.  The fight between Ripley and the Alien Queen is a magnificent ending.

Alien and the Alien Lifecycle

It is definitely beneficial to see Alien first because it does a very good job of introducing the concept of the alien life cycle i.e. eggs with face huggers which leap out and  clamp themselves to your face and lay an egg in your stomach.  The face hugger comes off and the aliens grows in the human hosts stomach.  When they are large enough, they leave the host, bursting out their stomach/chest killing them.  It also introduces how dangerous they are, with strong acid for blood. A single alien kills almost the entire crew of the ship in Alien.  In Aliens there are hundreds of these aliens and Ripley encounters the Alien Queen.

Aliens is a truly brilliant Sci-Fi action thriller.
